| Scam hit DD Srinagar indebted to artists | | `We shall come on roads' | | Javaid Naikoo
Srinagar, Aug 28 : Holding official rivalry responsible for the mess in DD Srinagar, artists threatened agitation in case their outstanding was not cleared. A delegation of 'Jammu and Kashmir artists welfare forum' while talking to Early Times said that artists of the state who after legally signing contracts with DD since 2008 for making tele serials, Musical programmes, documentary films, personality programmes and despite spending lakhs of rupees till completion of all such works allotted to them on contract bases at present have reached to the stage of begging. Artists said that DD is legally indebted to artists to the tune of crores as the offivcials have not disbursed anything since 2008 for 650 artists of the state for their works with DD which include around 80 serials,150 musical programmes,80 documentaries films, 80 personality programmes and dozens of similar other genres.
Hassan Javaid one of the artists while showing a file of documents signed by Programme executive of DD Srinagar and many other officials said that 'it was actually a serial of 26 episodes in Urdu language tilted 'Kabi to Milay Gee Manzil' which he had shot in the period 2008 to 2010 after signing an agreement for the same with the concerned authorities. "After shooting and necessary action from my end o the serials shot which cost me lakhs of rupees I submitted the tapes with the concerned section as per schedule with an intention that this work must go on air soon yet unfortunately since 2008 DD officials for no fault are making me and my crew suffer badly by not disbursing payments in my favor." Similarly other artist also showed documents of serials already shot and submitted to authorities at DD Srinagar like 'Hallen Nanan Wikeri thaand, Such Ki Jeet and 'Sreh' and said that DD officials for unknown reasons are making hundreds of families of artists to suffer. "Four serials which we shot namely 'Aine, Neki-Badi,Zindagi-Hind-rang,Ase-Kot-Chu-Gachun were though telecasted in months of March,April and May of 2013,but no payment was disbursed."Said another Artist Pertinently as DD Srinagar remained in news headlines over the years for wrong reasons, artists alleged that official rivalry from Srinagar to Delhi is gradually destroying the art and lives of artists of Jammu and Kashmir. In 2008,the then Director Doordarshan, Rafiq Masoodi approved the making of different genres and after completion of work, AD Doordarshan, Ashok Jaikhlani not having good terms with Masoodi stopped the payment of artists for their no fault. Threatening to come on roads in coming days, artists working in DD from last 20 years also alleged that Directors placed in DD since 2008 namely Rafiq Masoodi, Shamishair, Qayoom Wadera,G.D Tahir always refused to listen to their woes instead made them to suffer. Meanwhile despite repeated attempts, Director DD, Shabir Mujahid, CEO DD placed Delhi, Jawahar Sarkar,ADG DD,Deepa Chnadra did not pick up the phone calls of early times. |
