Further the prominent demands raised by them included providing of at least 5 marlas plots of land to each family so that they could live safely and peacefully during tensions, declaration of 5 kms belt as "backward area" to compensate their children for the loss which occurs to their studies during hostilities so that they remain in competition with the students of other areas. They also demanded that their power tariff must be waived off as they are away from the houses since past one month.
Azad while expressing concern on the plight of migrated lot assured that the issues related with State government would be taken up in the coordination committee of NC and Congress at an earliest while the issues pertaining to Government of India would also be discussed with Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Defence.
He also assured them that soon after the conclusion of Assembly proceedings, the concerned Ministers would visit the border areas and would ensure that all possible care and attention is provided to the border migrants.
"The cloud of uncertainty looming over the lives of the people of border areas is very agonizing and Pakistan's increased aggressiveness is responsible for this regrettable state. Life of thousands of people, including sick, old aged, children, etc has become miserable and normal activities like schooling, business, etc have been a big casualty ", said Sh Azad
Expressing concern over the fresh spate of unprovoked heavy firing and shelling by Pakistani forces, including Pakistani army, Azad said the current use of artillery and mortar fire by Pakistani forces is unprecedented causing humongous damage to the crops, houses, cattle, private and public properties, besides casualties and injuries to the local population.
Azad said that having been accepted as the "heaviest firing" since 1971 war in which many civilians and security jawans have lost their lives it can be said that this is a sheer criminal act on the part of Pakistan, and that the Government of India should to give a befitting response to the Pakistani misadventures.
He further said that it is not only Pakistani Rangers who are resorting to unprovoked firing on the borders but Pakistani army is equally involved in heavy shelling and artillery fire.
Criticizing BJP led government at centre for its failure in handling situation, Mr Azad said, "it seems that Pakistan is taking the new government non-seriously and is hell bent to create tension in border areas of Jammu and Kashmir. On the other hand, such an act of Pakistani army is a sheer criminal act on the part of Pakistan. It looks as if Pakistan army is not under the control of Pakistani government."
Azad said that the misconceived and incoherent Pakistan policy of the present NDA Government driven by electoral calculations has emboldened the Pakistani forces to indulge in misadventures and that the response of Government of India has been marked by ineffectiveness and vacillation.
Later before leaving for New Delhi, Azad also visited GMC&H, Jammu and inquired about the well being of those who got injured in border firing. He also inquired from the doctors if all possible care and treatment is being provided to them on priority.
