| Promise of 'fair' probe vanishes in thin air as tainted officials get reinstated in H&UD Deptt | | | Jehangir Rashid
SRINAGAR, Aug 28: The so-called slogan of 'War Against Corruption' as projected by the state government has once again proved to be a hoax as tainted officials have been re-instated in the Housing and Urban Development Department.
Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Satesh Nehru issued an order week back according to which four Executive Officers, one Head Assistant and a Junior Assistant were re-instated. This is despite the fact that First Information Reports (FIRs) have been lodged against majority of these officials and they have been convicted for embezzlement.
According to the government order 252-HUD of 2014, Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, in-charge Executive Officer has been reinstated. This is despite the fact that Imtiyaz carried out 50 illegal appointments at Municipal Committee Chadoora and 35 at Municipal Committee, Kunzer during 2009-2010. As Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Achabal, Imtiyaz regularized services of 15 junior most consolidated workers.
According to this order, Abdul Rashid Shah has been reinstated as in-charge Executive Officer. During his tenure as Executive Officer, Municipal Committees, Bandipora, Hajin and Sumbal, Rashid made more than 550 illegal appointments. Crime Branch has already registered a case against him and his guilt has been proved beyond doubt.
Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Malik, in-charge Executive Officer has also been reinstated. Malik as Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Kupwara engaged 30 consolidated workers without any formal order. He also without any authorization whatsoever allotted eight shops of a shopping complex to his own favourites in lieu of money.
According to the government order, Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganie and Bashir Ahmad Ganie have been reinstated as Head Assistant and Junior Assistant respectively. This is despite the fact that both these officials have been booked under an FIR. They along with Executive Officer, Shakeel Ahmad Shah have made 50 illegal appointments of consolidated workers at Municipal Committee, Shangus.
"The officers/officials shall be posted against non-sensitive posts by their respective Directors of Urban Local Bodies, Jammu/Kashmir. The officer/officials shall be eligible for drawing subsistence allowance only for the period of suspension which shall be decided separately," read the government order.
The order says that the reinstatement has been done on the recommendations of the Review Committee constituted vide government order number 117-HUD of 2014 dated 27-03-2014. It says that the Review Committee met on 22-07-2014 and ordered for the reinstatement of the 'tainted' officials. |
