Rly employee imprisoned in corruption cases | | | Jammu, Aug 29 : Special Judge Anti-corruption (CBI Cases) Kaneez Fatima today awarded four years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10 lakh in one case and four lakh in second case to Vibihishan Bhagat, senior cashier in the office of Deputy FA/CAO (C) Northern Railway, Jammu, in cases of misappropriation of Rs 5 lakh and 2 lakh. According to the CBI case, Vibihishan, during the period 1997 to 1999, entered into a criminal conspiracy and misappropriated an amount of Rs 5. 90 lakh and 2 lakh by manipulating the enteries in the copies of challans. On this, CBI registered a case under sections 409, 467, 468 and 477-A of RPC and 5(1) © read with section 5(2) of J&K PC Act 2006 and after completion of investigation challan was presented. The judge, after hearing the two sides, convicted the accused and observed that accused was 61 year old and is also in bad health condition and keeping in view the painful journey of trial of 11 years as well as the age of the accused and his ailing health, awarded four years imprisonment in each in both cases and fine Rs 10 lakh and 4 lakh. The court said the amount of fine be deposited within 15 days from today failing which the same shall be realized from the sstate of the accused and sent the accused to District Jail, Jammu, for serving the sentence.
