SRINAGAR, Aug 30: Kashmiri Pandit youth appearing in examinations for government jobs under the Prime Minister's package have accused the state government and their leaders of ditching them by not paying attention to them while they are in summer capital for appearing in examination.
A group of youth while sharing their views with Early Times said that they have been left at the mercy of the God, since no arrangements have been made for them in the summer capital. The youth said that neither they have been provided the accommodation nor any allowance so that they could manage for the expenses themselves. "Either the state government should have made arrangements for our stay in Kashmir or paid some cash to us so that we could manage ourselves. It is not easy to manage expenses in Srinagar these days as the tourist season is on. But it makes no difference for government as they continue to be in a slumber," said the youth.
Around 3,000-4,000 Kashmiri Pandit youth are appearing in examination for the jobs in the government sector. The jobs have been created for them under the Prime Minister's package for Kashmiri Pandits. While the examination for the post of Accounts Assistants was held today the examination for the post of teachers would be conducted on Sunday.
The job aspiring Kashmiri Pandit youth said that Rs. 10,000 would have to be paid by them for covering the various expenses attached with their appearance in the examinations. They said in absence of any accommodation most of them have been forced to pass the days and nights on the verandahs of various temples located in the summer capital.
"We pose a question to the government higher ups as to what sort of arrangements they have made for us. There is no arrangement whatsoever and as such we have been pushed to the will. Both the state and central governments are at fault in this regard and we cannot forgive these people," said the job aspirants.
Sunil Pandita, a social activist while sharing his views said that leaders of Kashmiri Pandits have maintained a 'criminal' silence on the issue. Pandita said that the KP leaders are running their 'business' and they least bother for the community members and the problems being faced by them.
"It would have been best for the government to set up examination centre at Jammu so that the youth are not put to trouble. These youth had to spent a lot of money in coming over here and then appear in the examination. This is highly deplorable and needs to be condemned by one and all.
