Issues confronted by teaching community raised

Jammu, Aug 31: College Teachers Association has raised various issues confronted by the Teaching community. In a press Conference held by the president of the College Teachers Association Sanjay Verma and General Secretary of the Association M.S.Saini in presence of other members of the association.
Issues were raised regarding of SRO-124, and appealed to the Govt. to expedite the process of removal of anomalies in the said SRO.
He stated that there are many teachers who are affected by the implementation of SRO-124.
The Association further appealed to the Govt.to transfer all those teachers/Principals to suitable places/stations, who have completed their minimum tenure in the far flung and other peripheral regions. Association also raised the issues relating to enhancement of remuneration rates of evaluation of answer scripts and conduct of examination with the University of Jammu and appealed to enhance the same as early as possible otherwise the association will be forced to take some extreme steps for which university will be responsible. Association further stated that university authorities have not been able to come out with clear assessment system so far as the semester system introduced by the university is concerned.
The association expressed strong resentment against University authorities for not starting PG and other professional courses sanctioned by the government on flimsy grounds thereby striving the students on large and society in general of educational opportunities.
The association also made an appeal to the Chief Electoral Officer of J&K state to spare college teachers from election duty since from this session Semester System has been introduced by the University and examination of the first Semester are likely to be held in the first week of November .
The election duty will directly affect the working of colleges and will be a loss to the students. It was requested that in case it was not possible to spare college teachers for election duty, we appeal to the Chief Election Commissioner to assign the duties as per the protocol.
The association also raised the issue of news/press reports which are appearing in the media regarding college teachers and other officials.
It was stated that media has the every right to publish any news/ findings of any enquiry/judgment of various cases, but it was requested that media should exercise utmost restraint and publish only those news/articles which are authentic.
They further expressed that self created stories appearing in the media against cadre/officials will demoralize the cadre and will affect their working which is directly loss to students community as well as society.
The press conference was attended by Satinder Kour, Naryan Dutt., Rakesh Jasrotia, Anil Ganjoo, Sunil Gupta, Hans Raj, Vishal Sharma, Sujat and Narinder.
