Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 31: "Inspite of deduction of annual premium of Rs 6081 in the month of March, 2014, the ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd has not issued the Health Insurance Cards in favor of the concerned beneficiaries till date and the University employees are suffering very badly as treatment is cashless in the Panel Hospitals up to the ceiling of Rs. 5.00 lakh," said SKUAST-Jammu Teaching Association president Dr. Vikas Sharma while chairing the 5th Executive Committee Meet of SKUAST - TAJ.
Dr. Vikas Sharma further pointed out that 5 months have passed, but Finance Department of J&K Government and ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company both are silent on the subject and University Scientists / Officers are facing very hard as they are also not entitled for mediclaim reimbursement upto the said cap. University authorities have communicated many times with the J&K Government Finance Department and ICICI Lombard regarding the matter, but both are not responding. "The Health Insurance Cards in favour of University Scientists should be issued immediately covering period of one year from the date of issuance of such cards on most urgent basis within a month otherwise the matter will be taken with Insurance Regulatory Development Authority (IRDA) and Hon'ble Chief Minister of J&K Sh. Omar Abdullah," stressed TAJ President Dr. Vikas Sharma
Dr. Vivak M. Arya, General Secretary of SKUAST-TAJ, said that J&K State Government vide Govt. order No. 07-FD of 2014 dated 09.01.2014 has made this policy compulsory for all Gazetted Employees of the state for a period of three years on annual premium of Rs.6081, but if the Health Insurance Cards will not be issued in a month's time, the association will pass a resolution in the forth coming General Body Meeting (GBM) to boycott this policy for future (other two consecutive years)
Expansion in the executive committee, amendments in constitution of association and transfer policy were the other issues discussed in this 5th Executive Committee Meet of SKUAST - TAJ. The meeting was attended by Dr. P.K. Rai, Dr. Devinder Sharma, Dr. Rajeev Bharat, Dr. Poonam Parihaar, Dr. Vinod Gupta, Dr. AC Jha, Dr. Jai Kumar and others.
