KPC demands abolition of two-flag system in J&K | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 31: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) demanded that the centre Government should abolish the two-flag system in Jammu and Kashmir and there should be only one flag in the state. Jammu and Kashmir is one of 29 states of the Union, but it, unlike other states, has not only two-flag system but also has a separate constitution which doesn't have a chapter on fundamental rights. The two-flag system and separate constitution for the solitary state have led many to believe that Jammu and Kashmir constitutes a republic within the Indian Republic. These two constitutional anomalies have also been exploited by Pakistan and other hostile nations, including China, to further their own Geo-political interests in the state. The demand put forth by the nationalist forces in particular by KPC needs to be viewed as earliest as possible. Kundan Kashmiri, KPC Chief said that it is an appropriate time that centre Governmnet should abolish the two-flag system and to scrap the J&K constitution that has failed to the people of the state in every respect, so that the state of Jammu and Kashmir is brought at par with other states of the Union to enable the people of the state to constitutionally merge fully with the national main stream. He said it would be a befitting tributes to all nationalist forces, army, security personnel as well as to those innocent Kashmiri Pandits who got killed in the valley during the turmoil. |
