SRINAGAR, Aug 31: Former Vice Chancellor and noted Writer and TV Panelist, Amitabh Mattoo while advocating end of prevailing VIP culture in Kashmir, has predicted dark future for National conference (NC) and state Congress in upcoming Assembly elections.
In his recent post on Social networking site, face book, former Vice Chancellor, Amitabh Mattoo who according to his face book timeline information is presently 'Professor & Director Australia India Institute at The University of Melbourne' wrote that 'There is a near tidal wave against the National Conference and the Congress in the state, the scale of which I had not estimated while I was in Melbourne. It will be more than a miracle if the NC crosses 15 and the Congress crosses 10 in the forthcoming elections to the state assembly.'
Mattoo said that his recent observations on state politics came 'after spending a few intense days in Jammu and Kashmir and interacting with every section of society.'
Matto, besides a TV Penalist more often writes columns in many English newspapers while criticizing the prevailing VIP culture in Kashmir advocates that next government of jammu and kashmir must end up VIP culture in Kashmir and review the system of attaching personal security guards with every second Kashmiri having any connection with ruling establishment of the state.
"When I visited Srinagar last time, I had found it cleaner, today I found it impossible to navigate especially with the traffic and the VIP culture,While I drove my father's car without any security throughout Srinagar and the valley, I found that almost every one with some connection to the ruling establishment has a Personal Security Officer (including many shopkeepers). This seems to be the status symbol of the nouveau elite. The first task of the new government must be to restore Srinagar to its natural glory, and end this VIP culture. No one but no one should get security unless there is a real threat to his or her life."Amitabh Wrote on facebook He also wrote that 'If I as a former Vice Chancellor who writes freely and fearleslesly on Kashmir do not need any security, surely most others do not also need any security.'
Pertinently after both NC and congress faced rout in parliamentary elections in jammu and kashmir, Amitabh Matto after their defeat Predicted 15 seats for NC, 10 for Congress while as he predicted victory to people's democratic party (PDP) in upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
