JAMMU, Aug 31: SHO Bakshi Nagar Daleep Singh has been slapped with contempt notice after he failed to apprise an accused of the status of investigation in the case of cheating and physical abuse, in accordance with the direction of the court.
According to the case, a J&K Bank officer allegedly cheated and outraged the modesty of a woman on the pretext of providing her a job in the bank as a junior clerk. The aggrieved woman lodged complaint against the bank officer after she was forced to please his seniors. The case took another twist when SHO Bakshi Nagar Daleep Singh Billowria got himself entangled and became a subject of contempt proceedings.
The aggrieved woman namely Sanjna Khajuria (name changed) wife of Som Raj Khajuria of Rehari Colony in her complaint had alleged that the bank officer namely Rajesh Sharma son of Rattan Dev Sharma of Patoli Mangotrian, fraudulently took an amount of Rs 3 lakh in cash from her in the month of Feburary, 2013 promising her a Class IV post in J&K Bank in which he declared himself to be posted as an officer. Thereafter, whenever she approached the alleged accused he outraged her modesty. One day he called her at Rehari Colony and asked her that she would have to go with some higher officer of the bank to please them.
The woman when realized that she has been abused economically and physically, she lodged a complaint with the court and court directed Police Station Bakshi Nagar to register a case in this connection under sections 376,420 and 506 RPC after proper investigation under section 156 (3) CrPC.
The aggrieved woman when approached to the Police Station Bakshi Nagar to have access of the investigation of her case was allegedly shown thumb, forcing her to knock the door of court to know the status report of the investigation. The court issued summons to the SHO Bakshi Nagar following his failure to obey the court's order to let the aggrieved know the status report of the investigation. The SHO informed court that he did not receive the court's notice in this connection. After SHO's refusal, the aggrieved put the receipt bearing the seal and signature of the police station before the court following which court initiated contempt proceeding against the SHO Bakshi Nagar. The court has also fixed 19.9.2014 as next date of hearing.
