Who takes Rahul Gandhi seriously?
Atleast not the Soz headed JKPCC!
9/2/2014 12:01:02 AM
ET Report
Jammu, Sept 1: After losing Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi, the Congress Vice President is perhaps also losing his influence in his own party.
Initially there was gossip by the opposition that Rahul Gandhi never means what he speaks and no one in his party takes his word seriously and like any other junior leader his promise and public statements are just to be trashed once the rally or program ends.
As per media reports, recently JKPCC led by Saif-ud-Din Soz has forwarded a list of probable candidate from the Congress party for the upcoming Assembly elections to the Central Parliamentary Board of the party.
The list of probable candidate has not only agitated a lot of aspiring leaders who were expecting their names in the list but it has also raised eyebrows of other senior leaders of the party who have advocated for including at least three names in the panel of candidates whereas, the JKPCC president at least for 30 constituencies recommended only single name for the reasons best known to him.
AICC Vice President's wish of democratising the party also includes bringing the talented youth at the front positions rather than allowing dominance of few families. Now if coming back to the state of Jammu and Kashmir and the list of aspiring candidates for Assembly elections recommended by the Soz headed JKPCC, it has flouted every norm set by the Rahul Gandhi. For instances, besides, from the constituencies of all 17 sitting MLAs of the party, from Kalakote, Nagrota, Domana and Reasi assembly segments of Jammu the JKPCC has approved the name of just one candidate closing all the options of fair competition within the party as was initiated by Rahul Gandhi as primaries.
Interestingly, Salman Soz, the son of JKPCC president has also been able to get his name included in the list of probable's without any competitor. The panel list has not gone well within the party and has sent a wrong message amongst the Congress Supporters and masses.
Ashok Sharma, the lone candidate for 2014 elections from Kalakote assembly segment, in fact was rebellious for the party and in 2008 Assembly election he had contested against veteran Congress leader Mangat Ram Sharma (the then Deputy Chief Minister in 2008) from Jammu west constituencies, Ashok Sharma also fielded his nomination as independent candidate from Kalakote.
Similarly, from Nagrota assembly segment where the name of former MLA Shiv Dev Singh is being approved by the state Congress body who has played as a rebellion in 2008 after being denied party ticket, Singh has remained a Congress MLA in 1987, then contested in 1996 as MLA and 2004 (as MLC candidate) he lost his election despite getting the Congress mandate but in 2008 after denied mandate by the party fought election as an independent candidate.
At least Ashok Sharma ( Kalakote) and Shiv Dev Singh ( Nagrota) are clear examples that how did directions of Rahul Gandhi are flouted, by giving these two former rebellions the mandate and that too without any competitors speaks in volume about the deliberate contempt shown by the Soz's JKPCC.
Now all eyes are on the Congress leadership there at Delhi that whether they clear the air or allow the perception to go on that in this old party that the rebellions are prized and loyalists are deprived, or the Central leadership comes into action to erase it from the mind of the people that still there is a scope of being more democratic and matching the words of its leaders with the action.
