SKUAST-TAJ holds first General Body Meet

Jammu, Sept 2: SKUAST-Jammu Teaching Association Jammu (SKUAST- TAJ conducted its general body meeting at Main Campus Chatha under the president ship of Dr Vikas Sharma in which various issues pertaining to the association and teaching fraternity were discussed.
The meeting was attended by more than 150 Scientists from faculty, research stations and KVKs of SKUAST-Jammu.
Addressing the participating members, , the President SKUAT-TAJ, Dr Vikas Sharma said that they tried best to solve the problems being faced by teaching fraternity of SKUAST-Jammu and further assured the Scientists that their professional interests will not be ignored in future and the association will work only for the welfare of teachers and overall development of Varsity
"We succeeded in getting advance increments, release of arrears, unpaid salaries, Carrier Advancement Scheme (CAS) in merely 5 months for the teaching employees of SKUAST-Jammu, he said and also thanked Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu for signing MoU wih CSIR-IIIM, Jammu for the exchange of faculty regarding talks, joint projects /conferences and visit of students.
"CAU Status, enhancement in retirement age to 65, faculty club and housing colony for the SKUAST teachers are the targets to be achieved in the coming years," he added.
Meantime members unanimously expanded its executive structure with induction of Professor RK Samotra of Vegetable Science and Associate Professor Susheel Sharma of Agricultural Engineering inducted as advisors SKUAST-TAJ for full term of three years and Dr Lalit Upadhyay, Dr AP Singh, Dr Puneet Choudhary as Executives. Besides this over a dozen agendas were proposed in the meeting, all of which were approved by the General House.
The proceedings of the programme was conducted by the General Secretary of the Association Dr Vivek M Aryan, Dr Rajeev Sangra and Dr Devinder Sharma while Dr Vinod Gupta, Executive of the Association, presented the vote of thanks.
