| Pulwama people being discriminated against political lineage: Bari Andrabi | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 2: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) district president for Pulwama district, Bari Andrabi has expressed concern for lack of attention exhibited by the present government towards the day to day problems being faced by the people of Pulwama district.
"The government machinery is conspicuous by its absence on the ground. Be it the maintenance of civic amenities at the district headquarter, regulation of traffic, road connectivity of villages with the district headquarter or grant of relief for the losses caused by the recent hailstorm, the government apathy is galore," said Bari after assessing the ground situation in different areas of the district.
He further said that the Pulwama town presents an image where the role of government agencies appears to be non-existent. Bari said the people seem indirectly being coerced to change their political affiliation or else face the discrimination on the developmental front. This, he said, is the worst political machination being adopted against the people of the district, which is highly condemnable.
Bari Andrabi has impressed upon the government to depute a team of experts to the villages, Dogripora, Reshipora, Panzgam, Litter, Chandhgam, Chakoora, Arihal, Rajpora, Tral and other areas to assess the losses suffered by fruit growers during the recent hailstorm and to grant adequate relief to the sufferers.
He exhorted the district administration to upgrade the maintenance of civic amenities at district headquarter, so that the town presents a clean look. "Even the villages within a radius of 8km from district headquarter remain cut off from the district headquarter during the day time in absence of adequate public transport facilities.
The worst sufferers of poor transport facilities are villages Puchal, Lajoora, Narwa, Ratnipora and other interior villages which are barely 7km-8km away from Pulwama town," he said and appealed the transport authorities to work out an effective traffic management policy for these areas. |
