Early Times Report
srinagar, Sept 2: Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar is son of Sheikh Abdul Jabbar, who used to be counted among close associates of late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Sheikh Abdul Jabbar severed his ties with the National Conference in 1984 to join the rebel group of party under GM Shah. During Shah's tenure as the Chief Minister, Abdul Jabbar was appointed as the Law Minister.
Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar had resigned from Congress in February 2013 to build a pressure on the party leadership after he was denied party mandate for Legislative Council seat from Kashmir division in March last year.
He joined National Conference after leaving Congress and is still being considered as potential candidate for NC from Ganderbal constituency in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Ishfaq is also the son-in-law of former NC MLA from Hazratbal Constituency, Mohammad Sayeed Akhoon.
