Mendhar people protest against edu deptt, block road | | | M S Nazki
MENDHAR, Sept 2 : People held a protest here today against education department, which is headed by deputy chief minister Tara Chand, and blocked the road to vehicular traffic against its failure to process the case of a ReT teacher who died last year and who had completed five years of service. Manzoor Ahmad, who died of a heart attack at his residence at Bonala here on December 20, 2013, had completed five years of service as required to get confirmed as a permanent government school teacher. Those who had joined as ReT teachers with him got confirmed but he died before he could get the order. The family then applied for his confirmation but then deputy chief education officer (CEO) did not process his file, alleged the family members. When their repeated visits to the department did not yield any results, Manzoor’s widow and her relatives blocked the road at Mendhar Bus Stand at about 11 am, amidst raising of slogans against education minister, director school education, CEO, Poonch, and deputy CEO, Mendhar. They said Mohammad Sadiq Choudhary, who was at present attached with the office of director school education, was deputy CEO, Mendhar, when they had applied for Manzoor’s confirmation. Mendhar police station SHO Kuldeep Raj visited the spot and pacified the protesters who, after hold a demonstration for about an hour, went to the office of Mendhar SDM Romesh Kumar. The SDM assured them to process their case afresh and then forward it to the concerned department. He said he would also try to find out why then deputy CEO had not forwarded the Manzoor’s case to his superiors. |
