SRINAGAR, Sept 2 : Kashmir Hajj House, a dream project of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister constructed in Bemina Srinagar has no space for the people of Jammu region. Hajj aspirants who reach Srinagar every year from Doda, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Ramban, Rajouri, Poonch and other areas of Jammu Division allege that they face discrimination. In such latest discrimination with Hajj aspirants of Jammu region, 29 aspirants from Kishtwar were not only ill treated but were also denied accommodation inside the Hajj house by the authorities. As per the details available with "Early Times" the Hajj aspirants of Kishtwar District who left for Srinagar a day before could only manage to reach Hajj House Kashmir after travelling for 14 hours, the journey which under normal circumstances takes 5 to 6 hours via Kishtwar-Sinthan-Srinagar National Highway. While talking to "Early Times", Hajj aspirants as well as their attendants narrated a woeful story blaming Hajj Committee for the sufferings. They said that the JKSRTC bus which the Hajj aspirants boarded at Kishtwar was a defective one and was put into the service for ferrying the Hajj aspirants without its proper physical checking; thus putting the lives of the 29 Hajj aspirants to risk. They said that CEO KDA instead of fulfilling his assigned duty was seen busy in finalizing some tendering with some local contractors. They said that later all arranged the food from outside. They said that in the meantime another JKSRTC bus was arranged for them after hectic lobbying, but added that the new bus instead of dropping them at Hajj House Srinagar, dropped them at Khannabal chowk Anantnag. They said that all the Hajj aspirants later boarded another vehicle upto Srinagar. They said that during their journey from Kishtwar to Srinagar, they faced lot of inconvenience; particularly in shifting the luggage from one vehicle to another. Authorities also did not provide them the dinner for which the Hajj Committee of Kashmir has charged them in advance. They said that till midnight, all the Hajj aspirants’ faces starvation added that on their request the local hotel owner provide them some food that too of poor quality. They also complained about non- availability of proper bedding inside the hotel.
