AIBCU criticizes Government for granting reservation on linguistic basis
9/3/2014 1:21:02 AM
Jammu, Sept 2: All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) has criticized the National Conference-Congress coalition government for granting reservation to Pahari speaking people, on linguistic basis.
According to press release, AIBCU members said, "Earlier after the Apex Court's Judgment, State government converted the due reservation of the State OBCs into Backward Area reservation on the name of RBA and ALC to the maximum @ 20% & 3% respecting keeping the state OBCs high and dry with only 2% who for about 60% the state population".
They further said, "But these so called secular parties who are looting the due rights of the poor people did not satisfy with 20% & 3% reservation again attacked the State OBCs and passed an amendment of 2004 reservation Act in the Assembly on 30-08-2014 to accommodated Pahari speaking people. This is nothing but an unconstitutional and a shameless Act of Congress and N.C to cover the so called upper caste people who were not earlier covered under RBA & ALC as they are residing at Block, Tehsil & Distt. head quarters".
The views were expressed in a meeting held under the presidentship of president Jenab Abdul Majid Malik. "Law deptt. has already turned down the recommendations of Pahari Board last year in 2013 terming that reservation can not be granted to people speaking of a particular language & is also not covered under 15(4) & 16(4). Now the same Govt. has amended the 2004 reservation act for a specific move.
Reservation on the name of Pahari Speaking if is valid, it should be extended to all viz. Kashmiri, Dogri, Punjabi, Kishtwari, Bhaderwahi speaking people. No body can deprive these people who speak different languages", they said.
Prominents who shared their views were Puran Chargotra, Sain Dass, Hm Sandokh Chand, Rajinder Singh, Raj Kumar, Abdul Qadir, Shabir Ahmed, Abdul Rashid Malik, Darshan Kumar, Prof. Kali Dass and many others.
