Now, Omar to take up border migration with HM | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 2 : Even after three-year the proposal to build safer places for the people of the border was made by the Omar Abdullah government, the State government had not got it cleared from the Centre, especially when the Congress was ruling the Centre. Omar on Tuesday said he will take up the matter with the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is scheduled to visit Srinagar by the end of this month. The proposal has not been taken so seriously, when it merited priority, shows the concern of the Omar Abdullah to the border residents of the Jammu, when many people had died. "The proposal was made up when UPA government was in the centre. It got more serious when last year also there was firing along the borders in the Jammu region. the Centre wanted details and modalities to chalk out of the programme but the CM was not much interested," said a senior official, wishing not to be named./ According to the sources, the Congress leadership did put pressure on the CM to pursue the case more vigorously with the Centre, when it itself was responding, the CM tried delay it as much as possible. The CM could have got it cleared by the then Central government with whom it enjoyed good relation and had personal equation with the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. However, like on other issues, Rahul was not given true and clear picture of the ground situation and he also followed what was projected to him by Omar Abdullah. "How is it then possible that if Omar was interested and had got Rahul along with him things would not have happened and files not cleared," said the official. Omar is not deliberately trying to put the ball in the BJP's court , which it knows will not like to give credit to Omar Abdullah for getting it cleared, though the party is serious but is waiting for Omar to first get off the CM's seat. "Apparently it seems that Omar on having failed to get the AFSPA revoked wanted decided not to give even semblance of the peace to the people of the Jammu region, who have been real victims of the hostilities of the Pakistan," said the official. |
