Srinagar, Sept 2: Ahead of ensuing elections, two unions of Civil Secretariat employees are at loggerhead and were accusing each other of mistrust, thus adding chaos among employees. As per the details available with "Early Times", two unions of Civil Secretariat known as Ghulam Rasool Mir group and Rouf group have soaring relationship since long, but the difference between them became public after they issued press statements against each other.
In a fresh press statement issued by Mir group through Suresh Bedi, it was alleged that Rouf group had failed to address the problems of over 4,000 non-gazetted employees of the Civil Secretariat. While talking to "Early Times", Suresh Bedi said that one Shabir Ahmed Baba who contested election on Rouf group ticket got elected as General Secretary of the union, but later in lieu of some alleged personal benefits he shifted his loyalty to Mir group.
He said that Shabir “continues to work in Technical Education Department for the last four years and has left other SOs working in the department virtually handicapped”.
Bedi alleged that Baba by using his influence managed to get three room set accommodation usually meant for Gazetted officers, having been well renovated and fully furnished and also managed the postings of his kith in darbar move.He said that present union created many hurdles in delaying the union elections and tried its best to avoid the elections on due date, besides having managed to get the election notification issued by GAD after hectic lobbying. He said that even GAD favours the Rouf group and added that otherwise the elections would have been held two months ago. He said that despite the end of the tenure on 19-06-2014, Rouf group continues to stick with the chair and blame the Rouf group of failure in addressing the employees’ problems in last two years.
He said that Mir group has come forward for social service with the aim to serve the civil secretariat and to restore the credibility and dignity of the employees working in the civil Secretariat. "We believe in system and would always work in upholding the democratic values in the highest seat of the government" said Suresh Bedi. He urged the civil secretariat employees to vote in favour of the Mir group in ensuing elections for better future of the employees.
