Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 14: The 300 Km Jammu-Kashmir National Highway remained close for the 11th consecutive day today after fresh landslide near Ramsu area in Ramban district. 10,126 people were evacuated at Ramsu by the Delta Force of Rashtriya Rifles. 7,000 food packets were distributed to the stranded people, while 4,150 were provided meals. An Approx 7,000 litre of water was made available to the people. Medical assistance was also provided to 1,648 people who hailed the Army for their rescue operations. Occurrence of fresh landslide at Ramsu, late night on Saturday, was a setback to the BRO whose reconstruction work received a major setback at a time when the Highway was about to be restored. The Army immediately swung into action and set to construct a foot bridge over Bichleri Nala to enable locals to cross over to safe areas, PRO (Defence) Jammu, Lt Col Manish Mehta said. |
