Jammu, Sept 14: The anger against the civil administration is brewing day by day particularly in Kashmir region. Today is the 11th day of devastation and still civil administration is not in place and this callous attitude of the state govt is brewing anger among the local population against their own elected NC-Congress coalition govt which has failed miserably in mitigating the sufferings of the people.
Some Ministers are seen in Delhi which has added salt to their wounds.
There are still many areas in Srinagar where no help or rescue teams has reached and above all, still no proper information from Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam, Sopore and other areas.
Mohammad Wajid, who talked to Early Times from Srinagar on phone, said that there should be governor rule in the state as the present dispensation failed miserably. He further showered praise on Army, Air force and NDRF personal for their tireless help in rescuing the people and added that what is the fun of local administration when they are not in a position of delivering. Another person, Mohammad Ramzan, secretary legislative assembly, was of the opinion that they were alive today because of local people's help, though he himself called up higher officials for help but was given only lip service. Anita Sharma, a housewife, who was trapped in Srinagar said that central government is doing yeoman service to the people of our state and our own government is invisible in hour of crisis. She demanded governor rule in the state at the earliest so that Centre would monitor things directly. Had army and airforce not in place, things would have been worst. The local government employees have run away from Srinagar, the J&K police personnel seem to have gone underground; the disaster management in disaster and red cross and civil defence are also absent. As per information available with Early Times, Army wife's association has written an open letter to prime minister Narinder Modi on how the state police and government employees abandoned their place, how they ran away from duty, how the doctors of prestigious SKIMS soura abandoned the institute thus left the patients at the mercy of god . There is enough relief material on the Srinagar airfield but who will deliver them to the sufferer as army is doing whatever is possible. There are theft reports coming in and in the absence of local police, there is every chance of lawlessness in the city. There are many other voices which favour the governor rule in state and criticism for local administration for their inefficiency of handling the situation.
