DB directs no construction in Tawi Bed from Nagrota to Phalian Mandal PIL against encroachment of Tawi River Bed 9/15/2014 11:00:12 PM Jammu, Sept 15: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Advocate Deewakar Sharma and Raman Sharma as founder member of SAVE MY TAWI Campaign regarding encroachment of River Tawi Bed and River Bunds and construction on it, A Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur after hearing petitioner in person whereas Sr. AAG Gagan Basotra for the state, who stated before the Court that on account of unprecedented floods in Kashmir valley, the status report has not been filed and sought time to do the needful, granted six weeks time. While granting time for filling status report to the state, Division Bench directed that in the meanwhile no transaction inform of transfer, mortgage etc, shall take place in respect of River Tawi and directed all the departments to ensure that no encroachment shall take place on the land and stayed the further construction from Nagrota to Phalian Mandal.
