Bhaderwah, Sept 16: Veteran Political Personality of Jammu and Kashmir and former MP and Ex state Health Minister Hajji Abdul Gani Goni of Bhaderwah passed away in Jammu after prolonged illness. He was 98. Goni is survived by two sons and three daughters, family sources said. Veteran Congress leader, ex MP and ex Indian Ambassador to Jordon, was ailing for quite some time and passed away today, they said. A popular leader and Advocate by profession had joined Congress after independence of country and remained loyal to the national party. As administrator, Goni contributed much to the development of the state. A host of leaders including MLA Bhaderwah M S Naiz, MLA Doda Abdul Majeed Wani, MLA Inderwal Gh Mohd Saroori, MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar, MLA Banihal Vikar Rasool, MLC Naresh Gupta, PDP leader Mehboob Iqbal, Shabul Haq Batt have condoled the death of Goni. "Goni was a polular leader. He always raised ground level issues in the assembly and Parliament and other fora," leaders said in a condolence message. It is also notable to mention here that Hajji Abdul Gani Goni was real Uncle of former Advocate General and Congress leader Mohd Aslam Goni. |
