Govt trying to shield employees found involved in dereliction of duties | Where MD SRTC performs his duties at the time of crisis? | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 16: Decision of the State Government to shield officers who were found dereliction of their duties during floods has exposed double standard this regime. On the one hand, State Government has been threatening lower grade employees to resume their duties on September 18 at any cost, while on the other hand government is shielding the senior officers who were found not performing their duties. Last week State Government had announced to take action against Managing Director SRTC, J S Tandon who had reportedly left Srinagar and reached Jammu at the time of crisis when their services were required at Srinagar which was marooned at that time. Credible sources in the administration said that earlier the State Government had decided to take action against Tandon but later government taken back its feet due to pressure from some quarters. Instead of taking action against the erring officers, the government has rather buy excuse of MD SRTC that he was very much performing his duty during flood fury. Credible sources said that whereabout of J S Tandon was not known to his seniors. Repeated attempts were made to establish contact with him because authorities were demanding some SRTC buses to ferry stranded citizens to the higher places but he was not available. Credible sources said that J S Tandon has links at higher level so government has accepted this excuse that he was very much on duty at the time of crisis. It is still a mystery where Mr Tandon was performing his duty when entire Srinagar city was marooned and there was a dire need of deputing some buses of the SRTC. Important to mention here that State Government has been threatening employees to join duties on September 18 but action has not taken against those senior officers who were found not performing their duties effectively. The helpless lower grade employees are annoyed with the wrong decision of the authorities. |
