Peer Monga Nath wrestling championship held

RS PURA, Sept 17: Annual wrestling Championship was held today at Satrayian, R.S Pura where more than 25 thousand people were present to witness the show. R.S Chib former minister was the chief guest on this occasion. Worthwhile to mention here that the championship is being held every year by the mobile community of CHIBHAL Biradhari, who are migrated from tehsil Bimbar now in Pakistan. All community people from that area participated in this mega event. Before Indo-Pak partition, this championship was held at Watala which is now located in POK. This championship has been organized in the memory of Peer Monga Nath. It is pertinent to mention here that Peer Monga Nath was an eminent secular personality, who was very popular among all the communities of Bhimber used to seek his blessings when he was alive. For that matter, the entire population of this area had started wrestling tournament in his memory over 150 years back and this tradition is being continued by members of the CHIBHAL after partition of 1947 also.
Chib on the occasion spoke to media persons, said that this is a great example of rural sports. Chib futher said that such events provide a great opportunity to the budding sportsmen who are interested to participate in the wrestling events. He also said that many young people through this event have attained distinction in the wrestling. Further, he said that such events become the source of inspiring resulting for young sportsmen and also strengthen the communal harmony which is very important for the polarization of our country.
The wrestlers from all over the state and so adjoining states like Punjab and Himachal Pradesh participated in the show. The show organized on purely Voluntarily basis and people in large number contributed liberally because of their devotion for Peer Monga Nath.Kuldeep Singh President of the wrestling Committee Thanks Chib and all spectators who came to witness the championship. Also having some prizes awarded to the wrestlers who participated in the show.
