JU-VC inaugurates "Display Your Talent" 2014-15

Jammu, Sept 17: "Display Your Talent" 2014-15, an extravaganza of the Fine Arts, Literary, Music, Dance and Theater events commenced by Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium.
Prof. M.P. Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on this occasion who inaugurated the programme by lighting of traditional lamp in presence of Prof Pankaj K Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, Prof Pawmeshwai Sharma, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Prof Sameer Gupta, Co-Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee.
In his inaugural address, Vice Chancellor appreciated the role of Department of Students Welfare in organizing Cultural and Literary activities in the University. He asked the students to prepare themselves for the forthcoming North Zone Universities Fest to be organized by this university.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Ishar further said that there ought to be more motivation at University and College level to increase the participation of Students in Fine Arts, Literary, Music, Dance and Theater events.
Earlier Prof Pankaj K Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, told that such events like Display Your Talent help the students to identify themselves with the University.
Earlier two minutes silence were observed in the memory of sad demise of Prof M R Puri, Former Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu and founder of "Display your Talent" and for the victims of flood in J&K State..
In her address Prof Parmeswari Sharma, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, highlights the "Display Your Talent" from its start and asks the students for more participation.
Prof Sameer Gupta, Co-Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, presented the formal vote of thanks.
Meanwhile Rangoli, Debate and Flower Arrangement, events were organized by the Department of Students Welfare on today as part of the programme.
A panel of judged Dr Shubhra Kapoor, Mrs Sandhra Malhotra and Mukul Magotra adjudged Aarti Slalthia from Department of Psychology, University of Jammu, Khusbu Sharma from Institute of Music & Fine Arts, Jammu and Shikha Singh from J K College of Education, Kunjwani, Jammu as top three winners respectively in Rangoli contest whereas 'certificate of merit' was awarded to Tejaswani Khajuria from Govt College for Women, Parade, Jammu, Tarun Sharma from Department of Economics, University of Jammu and Jyoti Devi from Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
In Debate Competition, a panel of adjudicators namely Dr Anupama Vohra and P N Trisal declared Sahil Mehta from Department of Economics, University of Jammu, Shriya Sharma from MBS College of Engineering & Technology and Druvika Pandita from Govt College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu as first three rankers respectively. Dr Surinder Sharma Memorial Team Trophy in Debating Competition was bagged by the team from the Govt College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu.
Meanwhile, in Flower Arrangement (Ikebana) Tejaswani Khajuria from Govt. College for Women, Parade, Jammu, Nikhil Verma from the Law School, University of Jammu and Sonika Chalotra from Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu were adjudged top three winners respectively while Certificate of Merit was awarded to Mehak from Govt. MAM College, Jammu, Anirudh Gupta from Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu and Tarun Sharma from Department of Economics, University of Jammu.
Dr Raj Kumar, K K Sharma and Ashwani Sharma were experts for the Flower Arrangement Event.
