Social Forestry Kathua, KVM jointly organize plantation drive | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Sept 17: To observe 65th Van Mahotsav with an aim to create awaness among people to plant trees and preserve the forests, Social Forestry Kathua in collaboration with Kathua Vikas Manch (KVM) organized a special plantation drive at Minerva Public High School Barnoti here today. ADDC Kathua S Narinder Singh Bali was the chief on the occasion. DFO Social Forestry Division Kathua, Chairman Minerva Public High School Mahipal Sharma, President Kathua Vikas Manch Professor Ram Murti Sharma, President Private School Association Gandhrav Singh Katal were present on the launch of plantation drive. A large number of faculty members and students were also present on the occasion. Chief Guest ADDC Kathua and DFO Social Forestry Division Kathua planted the sapling in the premises of the school. Chief guest ADDC Kathua, S Narinder Singh Bali said that large scale deforestation has created imbalance in the nature because of which natural calamities are occurring across the country. He stressed for the sustainable development for preservation of the natural resources and assured every help and cooperation from District Administration side for organizing such programmes. While speaking on the occasion, DFO Social Forestry Division Kathua said that Van Mahotsav is organised every year to compensate the loss caused to the forests due to development works. He said that department has a target of planting one-lakh saplings and urged the gathering to plant more and more trees to check the global warming. The function started with lighting of traditional lamp by the Chief Guest following with the welcome address of Chairman of the School Mahipal Sharma. Chief Guest ADDC Kathua and DFO Social Forestry Division Kathua planted the sapling in the premises of the school. |
