Jammu, Sept 17: A delegation of Congress leaders of Udhampur district led by Ashok Gupta-Ex-President (Municipal Council) Udhampur met the President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee Prof. Saifuddin Soz, (MP), today at PCC HQ. Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu and apprised him about the prevailing situation in view of the recent floods which ravaged several villages. As per press release, they apprised him of the rescue and relief measures for the affected people of Bali-Nallah, Upper Manta, Sui-Charkad, Chinoor Sorpa, Neeli-Nallah, Kambaldanga, Chack Krameechi-Mansar, Rakh-Badali, Patti-Pangara, Cherri-Swal, Jaganoo, Tramara, Bapli, Talpadh, Gudar and Sonul Basan of Udhampur district who are putting up at various places in government buildings or accommodated in temporary shelters. They said that Army and Administration has rendered all possible help, however, lot more needs to be done to rehabilitate the affected population. The delegation demanded that those families whose agricultural land has been washed away should be provided alternate land as well as residential sites in safer areas. Prof. Soz discussed the measures which need to be adopted by the Congress party and the government agencies for the relief and rehabilitation of affected people and assured to take up the issues at appropriate levels to do everything necessary for the help of affected people. |
