SP observes condolence meet | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 18: J&K State office bearers of Samajwadi Party today observed two minutes silence praying to give peace to the souls of the two noted and prominent personalities of the state Balraj Puri and Abdul Ghani Ghoni and strength to the bereaved families to bear the loss. Giving his personal experiences with the moments spent with them, the SP President, Sheikh Ab Rehman, Ex MP, said that both the departed leaders started socialist moment in the state as founder members, in 1954 and formed Parja Socialist party. With the death of Balraj Puri, Rehman said that we have lost an imminent thinker, writer, politician and visionary personality and the vacuum can never be filled up. A man of secular credentials, Puri played an important role in finalizing the Indira-Sheikh Abdullah accord in 1975. He was also instrumental in playing significant role in the accession of State with Union of India as also in formation of state Autonomy. As regards late Ab. Ghani Ghoni, Rehman said that he remained active member of state constituent Assembly since 1952 to 1957 and as J&K State Assembly Speaker since 1972 to 1978, he exhibited exemplary impartial and secular role as inspirational force for times to come. He also remained as Cabinet Minister in the state council of Ministers. |
