Kathua, Sept 18: The alleged kingpin of the shootout here, who had gone underground after the incident, has been arrested by police. Police sources identified him as Kathua Truck Operators Union president Kuldeep Singh alias Kingu, son of Harnam Singh of ward No 8, Kathua. On September 16, 2014, a shooting incident took place in the office of Truck Operators Union at Govindsar, Kathua. Kingu and others were alleged to have fired upon the members of their rival group. The firing had resulted into the death of excise guard Kuldeep Sharma, son of Babu Ram Sharma of ward No 2, Kathua, and injuries to Mohinder Singh, son of Sardar Singh of Rajbagh and Bhupinder Singh, son of Lahna Singh of Rakh Lachhipur, Kathua. In this, regard a case FIR number 327/2014 u/s 302,307,147,148,149 RPC, 3/25 Arms Act stand registered at Police Station Kathua. A special investigating team headed by Yogesh Sharma, additional SP Kathua, Mushim Ahmed, DSP Hqrs, Kathua and Kathua police station SHO Sanjeev Singh Slathia was constituted to investigate the case. Acting promptly, the team arrested four persons allegedly involved in the incident. They included Harbhajan Singh, son of Joginder Singh of ward No 14, Kathua, Manmohan Singh alias Kawa, son of Harnam Singh of ward No 8, Kathua, Deepak Raj, son of Som Raj of ward No 12, Kathua and Ankush Paral, son of Sohan Lal of ward No 8, Kathua. Kingu, whose personal bank accounts were frozen, was arrested by police last night while he was trying to flee to Punjab through Ravi river. |
