Jammu, Sept 18: The number of social and political organizations are nowadays interested in remaining in news either by giving relief to victims or by taking pictures and releasing them to newspapers and channels. This is an agony that in this conditions also, some political parties, their leaders and social organizations are doing politics and trying to get mileage in coming assembly elections.
This is a worst human tragedy and first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, rains and floods have played havoc, affecting almost whole of the state. It will take years together in rebuilding the whole city and other parts of state. Talking to Early Times, Shafaat Rasool, from Batmaloo, said that this is irony that the political parties including mainstream and separatists didn't bother to help their people when they were in trouble and now these people are indulging in taking lead through statements on television. If one party announces relief for victims, others say they had constituted relief and rescue teams, just to fool the innocent masses of state as the assembly elections are nearby. There are separatist leaders also who want to pursue their agenda in this time of crisis. Both of them want to take lead. Farooq Ahmed, from Anantnag said that these political parties and social organizations are nowadays portraying themselves as the real saviours of people of Kashmir.
Where were they in time of crisis, now they are just doing politics and befooling the people once again. I salute the efforts of local people, army and air force, had they were not there, it was difficult for all of us to come alive.
Ghulam Raza from Kargil, said he himself has seen such devastation first time and instead of helping humans on humanitarian grounds, these people are busy in doing politics which doesn't suit them. Many organizations are coming forward to help the flood victims, but most of them are interested in photoshoots and remaining in news.
There are many others who are in real sense helping and not bothering to be in news. Many political leaders are issuing press release just to please their voters. There should be coordinated efforts to actually help the victims, not just to do politics at this juncture, he added.
