Nagri residents protest against power shut down | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Sept 18: Residents of Nagri staged a protest demonstration against Power Development Department (PDD) and blocked the Nagri-Bamyal road under the banner of BJP on Thursday to highlight the power crisis in the area. The locals led by BJP leader Rakesh Saini raised slogans and alleged the PDD to put the entire life of the town in miseries. The resented residents spoke about the power crisis in Nagri town which has been prevailing for the last four days. Despite repeated assurances, the PDD had not been able to improve the power situation and it had made only promises, protestors said. Even the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir claimed improvement of power but ground reality is somewhat different. Things would be far better if the present government had provided the better electricity supply to this town because the area is a biggest part of state agriculture sector, for which it had been claimed. The continue negligence of the PDD in taking care of damaged transformers in the area forced the residents to hold the protest demonstration and further will be continue if problem is not sorted out. The blockage disrupted the massive traffic movement on this Nagri-Bamyal road which lasted for more than two hours but later with intervention of Naib Tehsildhar and police of the area it was opened and resumed the traffic with an assurance to solve the issue soon. |
