Defunct RTO’s office Jammu becoming ‘inconvenience’ for daily visitors

Jammu, Sept 19 : Within tall claims of accountability and transparency, the office of the Regional Transport officer (RTO) Jammu has failed to come upto expectation to the visitors who visit this office for various works related to vehicle and transports documentation. According to sources within department  said that the two servers operational at the office for registration of licenses, route permits, vehicle authorization and other important works related to the department has developed technical snag and now have become non functional. “The normal work at this vital department is affected since last two days causing lot of inconvenience to the people visiting the office and particularly the transporters, sources said. As per the details available with “Early Times”, the two NIC servers functional in RTO office Jammu has stopped functioning since Thursday and the same have not been restored till last report came in. An official on anonymity also added, “Beside collapsing of server due to some unknown reason, the department almost last two weeks has failed to issue new registration number to the vehicles, issuance of license card and even there was no trial/driving test for new license applicants were held (for which the department has fixed two days Monday and  Thur-sday in a week) and even no fee has been deposited due to server breakdown.
Meanwhile some irate transporters informed the “Early Times” that they along with people also held the protest outside the office of RTO Jammu on Thursday morning demanding early restoration of services as they become easy victim to traffic police personal owning to deficient documentations.
They alleged that there is no one at this office to listen their grievances. They also said that due to breaking down of servers, the state exchequer also suffered heavy losses as the department due to this technical snag the department is not accepting due fee from transporters and applicants for driving licenses. The applicants and the transporters urged upon the higher authorities to look into the matter and streamline the same by passing due directions to officials at the helm of the affairs.
