Kathua, Sept 19 : Truck Operator Union of Kathua after consulting the other members union had decided to conduct the election for President and members informed that election would be held on September 24. The members of Truck Operators of Union namely Senior Truck Operator Yashpal Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Mangal Singh, Shishpal Singh, Chagger Singh, Mohinder Singh and others while addressing a press conference jointly announced the election schedule for the union. They said that after hectuic consulations with members the schedule of polls have been chalked out to elect the election for President. As per schedule of elections, the nomination of candidate have been fixed on September 18 and 19, they said adding, “Five-candidates namely, Sartaj Singh, Mohinder Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Jasbeer Singh had filed nominations.” They further said scrutiny plus with-drawl of names would be on September 20 and contesting candidates would get their symbols onSeptember 21 whereas the process of election would be on September 24 from 9 am to 4 pm. “On the same day, counting process would also completed, they said . Meanwhile Joginder Pal Sharma truck operator, alleging Police and District Administration responsible for the shootout on September 16, 2014 said that the truck operator were asking for fair and smooth elections since 2008. He said that after the completion of three years tenure in 2008, the then president of the union played a trick to delay the poll process and managed in filing the letters of the truck operators in the court saying that they had decided to continue the present president up to year 2011. Again, in 2011 after the expiry of tenure of executive body, the then president repeated the same trick befooling the other truck operators and succeeded in securing his post. Then in 2014, too he followed the same trick befooling the truck operators. He meanwhile held Police and District Administration responsible for the death of Excise department Kuldeep Kumar and the injuring of other two truck operators during the shootout on the other day. |
