Div Com reviews relief, rehab measures in Samba | | | SAMBA, Sept 20 : Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Shantmanu conducted extensive tour of villages severely affected due to flash floods in Vijaypur Block to take stock of the damages and the relief/rehabilitation measures for the flood affected families. He visited village Khoulpur, Kamore, Kamore Camp, Rangoor Camp, Barota, Nanga etc. and had interaction with the families who have suffered damage of crops, besides damage to agriculture land, houses and loss of livestock. The Sarpanches/Namberdars and other prominent persons apprised the Divisional Commissioner that due to heavy floods on 5th and 6th of September, 2014 in local river Devak and Basanter, the bandh at Kholpur and Barota breached and change in the course of river caused extensive losses to the crops and agriculture land. He inspected the sites where crops have been completely damaged and land has been filled with sand to the extent of 5-8 feet thereby rendering the agriculture land uncultivable. He issued on spot directions to the Deputy Commissioner and other officers of Revenue Department to make fair assessment of damages to the crops and losses to the private property so that the relief could be disbursed to the sufferers immediately. The Divisional Commissioner asked the Chief Engineer, I&FC to prepare a comprehensive project for construction of bandh to safeguard the agricultural land and property of these villages and submit the same within the shortest possible time. He also asked Deputy Commissioner, Samba to prepare proposal for special package as demanded by public. The Divisional Commissioner was accompanied by Mubarak Singh- DC Samba, H.R.Jerath -Chief Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control, Anil Mangotra-SSP Samba, ADC Inderjeet, besides the senior officers of various departments. |
