Programme on cyber-crime organized at GDC Udhampur | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Sept 20: As a part of its lifelong learning activities, Govt. Degree College Udhampur organized an awareness program for the students of the college that exclusively focused on Social Media Sites and Cyber Crime. Khalil Poswal, KPS, Superintendent of Police, Udhampur was the resource person. The programme was presided over by the Principal of the College Prof. S.S Bhalwal. In his address he said that advancement of technology
brings with it a lot of challenges also and we need to be equipped enough to cope with them; and awareness has no substitute. "The young generation has been using the social media sites extensively without understanding the gravity of hazards associated with them. It is our institutional social responsibility to educate them, generate awareness and create a crime free society," he added. Poswal gave a detailed presentation covering all the legal and social aspects of the topic. He discussed in detail about the various sections of Information Technology Act 2000. Quoting the practical examples, he talked about phishing, hacking , squatting, email spoofing ,proxy servers& social authentication. His discourse mainly focused on the use of social media sites by the youth. Around three hundred students attended the session. A healthy interaction followed the talk. Prof. Kamal Kishore, NCC Officer was the organizer of the programme. Prof. Sudhir Singh conducted the proceeding and proposed the formal vote of thanks. Others who were prominently present include Prof. Rakesh Gupta, Dr. Udhey Bhano, Prof. R. K Atri and Dr. Ranjodh Singh. |
