Jammu, Sept 20 : The future of over 3,000 students studying in various polytechnic colleges of the state seems uncertain as the Jammu and Kashmir Technical Education Board has failed to declare the result of 6th semester on time.
As per the details available with “Early Times”, over 3000 students of various polytechnic colleges appeared in the examination of 6th and last semester of various three year polytechnic diploma courses about two and half month back and have applied for degree courses in many colleges of the state and outside, but to due delay in the result, these students are not getting admission in the colleges as the last date for submitting the marks sheet of the 6th semester expired today while in case of Islamic University Awantipura Srinagar, the last date for submission of marks sheet expired on August 29 last.  While talking to “Early Times”, several polytechnic students described the delay in declaration of result on part of J & K Technical Education Board as unfortunate, adding that they already had lost an year due the alleged arrogance on part of J & K Technical Education Board.  They said that the technical education department also failed to provide the infrastructure, necessary equipments and teaching staff to newly opened polytechnic colleges across the state.  They alleged that they had been suffering due to the government apathy and now due to delay in declaration of result. They said that several colleges across India offered admission to students with backlog, but the Engineering colleges of state of Jammu and Kashmir did not allow admission to students with backlog and termed it as the violation of court guidelines in this regard.“I belong to poor family and my parents cannot afford to send me outside the state for further education and my hope for further admission is only in state-run engineering colleges, but that dream has already perished courtesy J & K Technical Education Board” said a dejected polytechnic college student.  He said that due to delay in declaration of result by technical education board, he had lost his precious one year of his education. The students demanded immediate declaration of the 6th semester result and urged upon the government to extend the date of admission in state Engineering colleges by at least two weeks after the declaration of the result.
