Rajendra reviews police working | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 21: Despite huge losses to the properties of Jammu and Kashmir Police by the recent floods, Jawans and officers of the force maintained their courage and professionalism, undertaking strenuous efforts to make the affected units functional. This was disclosed by the Director General of Police, K. Rajendra Kumar during officers meeting held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. The meeting was convened to review the police assistance being provided by JKP in various parts of flood hit areas. He said that after rescue operations, medical and relief camps are being organized at different places to provide medical aid and assistance to the flood sufferers. Besides medicines and blankets, food items including drinking water is provided to the people, he added. The DGP said that as an immediate step private vehicles were hired to replace the damaged vehicles and make the mobility functional. One lakh litres of fuel was arranged from IOC to run the rescue and relief operations by the force and civil administration. Police telecommunication network was made functional by setting up control rooms at different locations to ensure coordination in the rescue and relief operations. More than 400 jawans were deployed at Srinagar Technical Airport to assist the civil administration in receiving and despatching relief material, said the DGP. |
