Kishtwar, Sept 21: Public Awareness Front (PAF) today slammed coalition government for their failure in coming to the rescue of people facing the wrath of flash floods. According to press release, PAF President Shakir Saddiqui said that Jammu and Kashmir was battling one of the worst flood in decades in which over 300 people had died and thousands had became homeless. "Even after two weeks of catastrophic floods, the state government has failed to dewater the residential and commercial areas of Srinagar city prompting people to flee from their homes fearing the outbreak of possible epidemic", Saddiqui said and added that in dozens of localities where the flood water caused huge destruction, government machinery is totally missing, adding miseries to the common people. He further said that scores of people from Tengpora, Batamaloo, Padshahi Bagh, Rajbagh, Jawahar Nagar and many other localities are shifting to rented accommodation after abandoning their homes. Saddiqui added that the water was still stagnant at many places which may become cause for spread of diseases in future. |
