All Kashmiris are not biased
Flood heroes

Jammu, Sep 21: Concerted attempts are being made by hostile elements to undermine the role of the Army, Air force, CRPF, BSF, NDRF and other agencies involved in the humanitatrian work in the flood-hit Kashmir Valley. Attempts are also being made by hostile elements to defend the likes of murderer and robbers like Yasin Malik, who, instead of helping flood victims, did their best to hamper the rescue and relief operations. It is not difficult to understand why they are doing so. Suffice to say that they are misrepresenting the facts to mislead the Kashmiri Muslims. They just cannot afford a situation in the Valley in which people appreciate the splendid role of the selfless and compassionate army and other forces carrying on rescue, relief and rehabilitation. For, they believe that rise of such a situation would further deflate the ongoing sectarian and secessionist movement in parts of the Valley - movement engineered by the Sunni-controlled Pakistan and its Kashmir-based agents whose number is not numerous. There assessment is correct.
At the same time, there are Kashmiri Muslims who are very objective and unbiased. They are presenting a true story of facts and appreciating the real heroes. One such Kashmiri is Arjimand Hussain Talib, who has described as "hero No. 4" humanity that rose above communal and all other considerations. "Admittedly, there were situations when considerations other than human influenced decisions of rescue and relief. But in the end humanity has prevailed. So many groups and individuals, irrespective of their faith in India and abroad, have mobilized and sent crucial relief. They have offered moral support in relieving the difficult situation. Similarly, the air force pilots, the army medical teams and the volunteers of the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) preferred the humanitarian imperative in many situations despite political tensions. They too must be thanked," he, for example, has said. "And all this must make us optimists," he has also said. His other three heroes are: "The compassionate villager", "The unsung, the unknown Kashmiri volunteer" and "Kashmiri the compassionate".
Arjimand Hussain Talib deserves kudos for his objective approach and at a time when the enemies of humanity and Pakistani agents are misrepresenting facts to keep the pot boiling in the Valley. Talib deserves appreciation all the more not only because he has appreciated those who deserved appreciation for their role in this time of grave crisis but also because he showed the rightful place to the Omar Abdullah-led NC-Congress coalition as well as the so-called champions of the Kashmiri cause like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Yasin Malik, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Shabir Ahmad Shah. He has said the government disappeared from the scene when its help was needed the most. "It was the people's government that had taken over. A common man's government. A volunteer's government. A truck wala's government. Just every one's government, except for those who normally run that," he has said, and very rightly. As for the so-called genuine representatives of Kashmiri Muslims like Geelani, he thought it below his dignity to even refer to them one way or the other. In other words, there was no place whatsoever in his assessment of the prevailing situation in the Valley for any separatist and this should explain many things.
Kashmir needs many Arjimand Hussain Talib, as they alone could lead the Kashmiri Muslims aright. It is hoped others in Kashmir would emulate Talib and educate the Kashmiri public opinion about the negative forces operating in the Valley.
