Govt fails to clear Rs 2 cr bills of drug suppliers | | | Bijay Charak
Jammu, Sept 22 : The state government has failed to clear the liabilities of suppliers of drugs and equipments as Director Health Services (DHS) and Govt Hospital Gandhi Nagar are yet to clear their bills worth Rs 2 cr. A supplier spoke to this newspaper on the condition of anonymity and said that last year he had supplied drugs to DHS and Gandhi Nagar Hospital and also installed X- ray machines, digital X- ray machines and other equipments there is an estimated cost of more than Rs 1 crore but surprising the government has failed to clear his bills. "Repeated visits to these institutions have so far yielded no results. Whenever I approach the authorities for payment, they return me with fake assurances," he alleged and said it was very surprising that despite the availability of funds, the authorities were not making the payment even as some suppliers had got their payments. He said that when he urged the authorities to release his payments, they replied that the machinery supplied by him was yet not installed. "If they have not installed the machines, why the Health authorities ordered us to supply them", said another supplier. "More than one crore he has invested in the order of Director Health Service Jammu and Government Gandhi Nagar Hospital but even after the lapse of two years I have not received the payment", said Drug suppliers. When contacted, Medical Superintendent Government Gandhi Nagar Hospital, Dr Mohmmad Younis Khan accepted said the list of pending liabilities of the drug suppliers had been forwarded to Director Health Services. Whenever the funds were made available. The bills would be cleared, he added. Director Health Services Jammu B S Pathina said that the matter pertained to higher authorities. He further said that no liabilities were pending in his office. |
