Mushroom entrepreneurs advised to form Group Ventures 9/22/2014 10:58:29 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 22: Director Agriculture Jammu Dr SS Jamwal while addressing the gathering of Mushroom growers, advised them to form group ventures to further their interests. Jamwal had detailed interaction with the mushroom growers from Akhnoor, Khour, Bishnah, R.S.Pura, Marh and Dansal areas of Jammu district besides some farmers of Samba district who are participating in seven days practical Training-cum-demonstration programme on mushroom cultivation. Speaking on the occasion Dr Jamwal said that the cultivation of Mushroom can provide employment opportunity to the unemployed youths to earn their livelihood decently as the mushroom can be grown round the year. In Jammu Division Milky Mushroom can be grown from July to September whereas White Button Mushroom can be grown from September to March and Dhingri Mushroom can be grown from October to March. He advised the participants to take keen interest in training and understand the intricacies of mushroom growing to get maximum production and profits. He also asked the concerned staff of Mushroom Demonstration cum Training Centre (DCTC) spread all over Jammu division to equip the entrepreneurs with skilled and technical handouts on dos and don'ts in quality mushroom production and marketing. The participants raised many queries with regard to cultivation of mushroom and the facilities being provided by the Department of Agriculture Jammu. The training will continue upto 14th of October under which 7 time turning schedule followed for completing the compost making process scientifically. The programme is being organized by Mushroom Development Section of Department of Agriculture at Demonstration cum Training Centre (DCTC), Talab Tillo, Jammu. Ashok Malhotra, Joint Director of Agricultur (Extension), Sudesh Koul, Joint Director (Inputs) and other senior officer of the department also participated in the programme.
