Favourites get carrots, others get stick | Govt's dichotomy | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 22: The Government's pick and choose policy can be gauged from the fact that while some face axe for no fault , others get privileges, though number of protest demonstrations were held against the employees and officials who left to Jammu leaving the people of Kashmir in the lurch. The action is yet to be taken by the Government against the employees who remained absent in Civil Secretariat in Srinagar which re-opened on Thursday after being shut for 11 days due to the devastating floods that ravaged the state. Less than 10% of the employees reported to work at the scheduled opening time at 9:30 am, the official in-charge of security at the Secretariat said. Further, despite protest demonstration against J S Tandon, MD JKSRTC at Vijaypur by people, no action on the part of Government has been taken in this regard. It is alleged that most of the officers including JS Tandon rushed to the Jammu when Kashmir was facing nature's furry in the shape of floods. Protestors, raising slogans against Government, alleged that Tandon's action to press the vehicles for service of people could have rescued numbers of flood ravaged people besides minimize the casualties. Contrary to the incident, the IGP Security Sunil Sharma was attached. The said officer had come to Jammu to attend court's hearing. If the police sources are to be believed, IGP Sunil Sharma, was in constant touch with the Air Force authorities at personal level . He also got in touch with Vinod Khanna, MP and his other school mates like Rajendra Joon MLA, Bahadurgarh, Haryana to mobilize help and resources like langars. Even, the VHP representatives contacted him to help and guide them to set up langars on the lines of Amarnath yatris for the flood affected people. On his return to Srinagar he immediately got into action and with a Dozer of 102 Engineer Regiment worked tirelessly to open a new road along alignent of Old Nishat Road through the Golf Course which resulted in the helping of nearly 3 lakh people moving away from the flood affected areas and movement of conveys towards Kargil and Leh. The operator of the Dozer of 102 Engineer Regiment of the army was rewarded by the PHQ for his outstanding dedication and excellent work. |
