Jammu, Sept 30: An All India Painters' Camp was inaugurated at Government College for Women, Parade Jammu today to pay homage to the deceased people in the floods of the state and to collect funds for Prime Ministers Relief Fund. The camp was inaugurated by Saujanya Sharma, Director, JK Tourism Department. Dr. Hemla Agarwal, Principal Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu presided over the function whereas A S Gill, Assistant Commissioner, KVS, Jammu was the Guest of honour in the function. The camp has been organized by J&K Poshe Cultural Society, Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, O P Sharma, General Secretary of the Society said that society is working for the promotion of art, culture and literature in the state and at national level. He said that the Society has invited artists from all over the country to contribute for the cause of help to the victims. In his address, A S Gill said this camp is important because of its approach and sensitivity shown by the artist community to come forward and raise relief fund through their art. Dr. Hemla Aggarwal said that such kind of activities give an exposure to the young generation. Some of the students having aptitude towards art may get motivated to acquire art as their profession. |
