Cong leaders resent pick and choose policy in inviting leaders for Tuesday's function | Annoyed leaders register their protest before Azad | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 1: There is strong resentment among senior Congress leaders against pick and choose policy adopted by the organisers of the function held at State Guest House on Tuesday in which Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice president Rahul Gandhi distributed relief among flood affected families of some districts. Enraged over list prepared by the organisers in which only some selective persons were invited, some leaders have registered their protest before Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday evening. Insiders in the Congress said that District Administration had asked party leadership to provide list of those leaders who would be allowed to sit in the Pandal where Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi distributed relief among the affected families. Instead of accommodating all the deserving leaders, Congress leaders who were at the helm of the affairs mentioned names of only persons of their choice. While as some leaders who lost Urban Local Bodies elections were accommodated but some formers Ministers and ex-legislators were not allowed to enter the venue. Former Minister and ex-MLA from Nowshera Dr Ramesh Sharma, district president Kathua Subash Gupta, who is also ex-MLC and many senior leaders were not accommodated. Insiders in the Congress said that selective attitude adopted by the organisers in preparing list has sent a wave of anger among some of the senior leaders. These senior leaders in the evening registered their protest before Ghulam Nabi Azad. These leaders warned that such approach adopted by some leaders at a time when party has suffered humiliating defeat in Parliament Elections would given wrong message. They asked Ghulam Nabi Azad to take up this matter with Congress president and other senior leaders. They said that some of the leaders had come with relief cheques but returned when they found that their names were not in the list of invitees. |
