Educational institutions celebrate Gandhi Jayanti

Jammu, Oct 1: Jammu Sanskriti school celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Dusshera with great enthusiasm.Sanakshi Anand graced the occasion as guest of honour. The assembly began with the shradhanjali to Mahatama Gandhi ji and Lal Bhadur Shastri ji. This was followed by a song by teachers in the form of an ode to these leaders of our nation. The students were given a brief talk on the importance of great trust and harmony in our lives .
Meena spoke about the importance of Dusshera; a day of celebrating the victory of good over evil. Jhanki was taken out by the Pre Primary students depicticting the mythological characters of little Ram, Laxman and Sita ji with a Nanha Hanuman which attracted the attention of the audience. The programme ended with Ravan-Dahan & students were inspired to adopt virtues of non-voilence, love, compassion & peace.

Principal cum Vice Chairperson Mrs Rohini briefed the students about the importance of festival and laid stress to follow the path of non-violence .
Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, Bantalab today held a special function on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti by involving young students in different activities at the school premises here.
Also observed as International Peace Day across the globe, the birth anniversary or Mahatma Gandhi falls on October two i.e. tomorrow.
Earlier, the celebrations started with a special assembly. Students put up a spectacular show and enthralled the audience with their melodious voice by singing Gandhiji's favourite song, 'Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Patit Pavan Sita Ram'.
The students created a patriotic ambience by enacting life of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. To remind everyone of the great message of truth and non-violence, a series of hymns, favourite to Gandhiji, were sung melodiously by the students and the teachers.
Clad in dresses depicting Mahatma Gandhi, those students from the primary wing recited beautiful poems on Gandhiji. Later, Speaking to the gathering, Principal of the school, Puja Sharma said, "Gandhi Jayanti is the right time to take an oath to follow Gandhian principles and make life free from the chains of hatred and violence."
Several educational institutions today celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with zeal and enthusiasm. Model Academy celebrated Gandhi Jayanti at its premises. A special assembly was held in which students paid homage to the Father of the Nation. They presented their views on the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi in India's freedom movement, his political, social and religious ideologies. The students also sang a beautiful rendition of the devotional song 'Raghu Pati Raghav Raja Ram'. In his message to the students, Dr. Arun K Gupta, Chairman MIER, said that the youth should imbibe Gandhi ji principles of truth and non-violence. He exhorted the students to take care of this nation and to make this their duty as it would be the utmost show of love for the nation.
RM Public School celebrated Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti at school premises with great fervor and gaiting. The function started with lighting of lamp followed by Gayatri Mantra. On this Occasion chairman of R.M. Public School Rameshwar Mengi, trustee of RM Public School Reeta Mengi and Principal of RM College P.K. Dhar were the special guests.
Students took part in dance and bhajans. They wore colourful and different costumes and performed a wonderful belle from Ramayana. Huge effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Indrajit or Meghanada were burned, by the student who was in the costume of Rama. Later on Parsad was distributed among the students. After the function symposium was conducted on Gandhi Jayanti in which inter school competition was held by the students of 6th & 7th classes.
Government Degree College Budhal today celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with full fervor and gaiety and organized a symposium on the topic " Relevance of Ganghian Philosophy in Modern Time".
According to press release, twelve students participated in the symposium. Zahid Farooq bagged Ist position in the symposium where as Sumnash Kumar and Liaqut Ali secured 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. Afsana, Tehmina,Zeenat,Tanzeem and Shabana presented very attractive cultural items. Rohid Rather presented a gazal.
.On the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the students of Yogananad College of Engineering & Technology YCET, under the aegis of Jamwal Group of Educational Institutions visited Balniketan, Ved Mandir Amphalla and donated utility items.
According to press release, Sudesh Pal Gupta, Secretary, Balniketan welcomed Dr. Seema Narain, Director YCET, distinguished guests and students of Balniketan (home for homeless).
Sacred Heart College of Education organized a special assembly to pay rich tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatama Gandhi and former Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, who preached peace, truth & Non-violence and finally achieved India's Independence.
On this occasion, Chairperson of the College highlighted the contributions of great leaders and suggested the students to follow the path of peace, truth and non-violence.
M.D of the College Hari Singh Chib shared the life history of Mahatama Gahdhi.
Two day workshop on the role of Gandhian Philosophy was organized by NSS Units of GGM Science College, Jammu today.
According to press release, Padmashri SP Varma, President, Gandhi Global Family J&K was chief guest on the occasion.
The function was inaugurated by the Chief Guest in presence of Dr. N K Resutra, Nodal Principal Jammu Division Colleges, Dr. Rajinder Singh NSS Programme Officer of the College and other faculty members.
A large number of NSS Volunteers attended the workshop. The guests were welcomed by Dr. Rajinder Singh, NSS Programme Officer who gave details of NSS activities being undertaken by the NSS Units of the College.
The chief guest in his address while appreciating the NSS units explained the ideology of Mahatama Gandhi and its relevance in the present circumstances. He stressed upon the students to become the ambassadors of peace in spreading the message and philosophy of Gandhi Ji as Gandhi Doots. Principal in his address said that the Gandhian Philosophy is more relevant in the present world as it was in the pre-independence period. He said that world peace, social equality can be achieved by following the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
