He said that the situation was tense everywhere and the people who have been trapped in their houses were asking to help out. "We also tried to contact police to rescue people but they expressed helplessness and finally we left our volunteers in every sphere and managed to evacuate people from death trap. We also get a raft boat from Delhi and used that for rescue purpose for over ten days," He said and added after rescuing people from Sector 11 Bemina, the team received a call from Gurdwara Shaheed Bunga and was directed to reach Jawahar Nagar area where over ten dead bodies were under the debris of collapsed house.
Mehta said that the team Coordinator, Surjeet Singh Shammi guided volunteers who managed to remove the dead bodies and handed them over to police station Saddar.
"After completing necessary formalities police asked us to perform their last rites also according to their religious conviction. It was the Gurdwara Committee that put up with the all expanses of last rites of the dead people," team Coordinator, Surjeet Singh Shammi said.
