Separatists, Muzaffar Beig lock horns over flood | `He is modern day Mir Jaffar' | | Javaid Naikoo SRINAGAR, Oct 16: Hours after former Deputy Chief Minister and Member Parliament called separatist camps to forget Kashmir issue and join hands with mainstream leadership to help flood hit people of Kashmir, hardliner separatists termed statement ridiculous. The war of words was initiated by Muzaffar Hussain Beig durng an interview with a local news agency. Beig said that 'it is high time that all the leaders from mainstream and separatist camps should bury their differences and join hands to help people in these hard times. He also asked separatists to forget Kashmir issue and play their role in rebuilding Kashmir.' Syed Ali Shah Geelani responded to Beig saying "Pro-freedom people don't need any kind of advice from Beig with regard to the helping of flood hit people. They are already on the job while as the people like Muzaffar Beig went missing with the floods and now when the floods are over, he has resurfaced and issues statements to gain political mileage." "Lust for power has blinded him to the extent that he is denying a Himalayan truth of Kashmir. People like Beig are modern day Mir Jaffars and Mir Qasims. Beig himself uses Kashmir issue at the time of elections and sometimes he issues statements in favour of Mohammad Afzal Guru and Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and sometimes he writes emotional poetry on the cruelties of Indian Army and publishes his pro-freedom Ghazals etc in the local news papers," he said. He said people like Beig have no character and no principles and these people change their color according to the season. "Beig was very late in remembering the flood hit people of Kashmir and he should explain his absence from ground for forty days," he said. |
