Let UN &US mount pressure on Pak to stop border fire 10/19/2014 9:45:39 PM When shall there be some respite in the repeated ceasefire violations by the Pakistani troops and the Rangers on the LOC and on the IB in Jammu and Kashmir ?This question has assumed added importance for the over 30,000 people who have been displaced and have been living in camps at safer places.Yes the question is of utmost importance to the political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir.And New Delhi is concerned over the way Pakistani forces have been,on one hand,targeting Indian border outposts and pickets besides villages with gun and mortar fire and on the other hand the establishment in Islamabad has been blaming India for ceasefire violations in order to achieve electoral gains in the Assembly elections in some states.The way Pakistani forces have resorted to repeated ceasefire violations indicates that they want to avenge heavy losses they have faced in the Indian retaliatory fire.And both Prime Minister,Narendra Modi,and the Defence Minister,Arun Jaitley,have conngratulated the Indian troops for effective steps taken for hitting hard Pakistani border outposts and other military bases.The repeated ceasefire violations also indicate that the Pakistan Government led by Nawaz Sharif,has lost control over the Army in Pakistan.This is evident from the way Pakistani forces have yet to stop firing on the Indian border villages despite clear cut instructions by the civilian Government to go slow so that an atmosphere was built that could prove conducive for talks. And even Washington has expressed concern over the growing border conflict between India and Pakistan.The UN too has suggested Islamabad to settle bilateral issues through the process of dialogue.But the Pakistan forces seem to be determined to vitiate the atmosphere.This is clear from four ceasefire violations that were recorded on the LOC and on the IB in the Jammu sector during the last 24 hours.Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire twice by firing on forward posts along the LoC and International Border in Poonch and Jammu districts, drawing retaliation from the Army.There have been four ceasefire violations along the IB and LoC in Jammu and Poonch districts during the past over 24 hours.Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire and resorted to small arms and automatic weapons firing on Indian posts along the LoC in Hamirpur sector of Poonch district the other day.Earlier, Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire in Hamirpur sector twice on Thursday night and Friday morning, drawing retaliation from Indian troops.Pakistan had earlier violated the ceasefire by resorting to firing and mortar shelling along the LoC in Sabjian-Kirni-Shahpur belts of Poonch on October 15 in which seven-year-old Riyaz of Kuiyian Gotirian village was injured. What is intriguing is the way Pakistani troops have been repeatedly needling the Indian forces on the LOC and on the IB when terrorists ,operating in Pakistan,have added to the worries of Nawaz Sharif led Government.Besides this the conflict between Pakistan and Iran is on the rise.And on Sat- urday Iranian border guards fired three mortar shells in Mashkail, Pakistan's bordering town with Iran.Instead of getting bothered about the terrorist activities and about the growing conflict with Iran Pakistani forces seem to be concentrating on the LOC and on the IB in Jammu and Kashmir for pushing groups of militants into the Indian state for wrecking the ensuing Assembly election.New Delhi's patience is getting exhausted and the UN and Washington need to take note of this development.If the UN and the USA want the border skirmishes not to assume the shape of full-fledged war between India and Pakistan the world body and the super power need to intervene and mount pressure on Pakistan to stop ceasefire violations.India has already made it known that New Delhi will not reopen the channels of dialogue unless Pakistani forces stop ceasefire violations.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
