jammu, Oct 19: A patwari was apprehended by the State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) red handed while accepting a bribe from a man at Bajarni in Doda district of Jammu region. Gul Mohammad Bhat of Kotal Bajarni in Bhagwa, Doda, approached SVO with the complaint that Zakir Hussain, patwari of halqa Bajarni, was allegedly demanding Rs 50,000 from him as a bribe for processing his case of compensation of land which was being used for the construction of Bajarni-Lal Draman link road. Acting on the complaint, SVO sleuths laid a trap and apprehended the patwari while allegedly accepting Rs 30,000 as first instalment of the bribe amount. He was taken into custody in the presence of independent witnesses, SVO sources said. A case was registered against him at SVO police station under section 5(1) (d) read with section 5(2) of J&K P C Act 2006 and section 161 of RPC. |
